NSU Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) hosts Pizza & PR networking event
Chapter launched in 2017
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, the NSU chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) hosted its annual Pizza & PR informational event in Room 129 of the Mailman-Hollywood Building on NSU’s Fort Lauderdale-Davie Campus. During the event, sponsored by the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, students and alumni were invited to enjoy a free lunch while learning about membership with NSU PRSSA.
“I hope that this event brings in new members excited to join NSU’s chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America,” said Monique Cole, president of NSU PRSSA. “We’re looking forward to educating prospective members about who we are and what we can provide them. Our current members are excited to see the chapter grow and offer new and exciting opportunities to help members further develop their professional skill sets and networks.”
The event, which took place from 12-1 p.m., offered interested undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to learn more about the chapter and its events for the fall 2019 semester, including a visit to a local TV station, a visit to a local public relations agency, featured guest speakers and a workshop focusing on using social media to network.
“I’m hoping to gain more knowledge about real-world applications of public relations while being a part of something great in my final year of college,” said Adit Selvaraj, a communication major who recently joined the chapter. “I’m interested in learning about the day-to-day life of practicing public relations and how to successfully execute campaigns.”
The chapter, which launched on NSU’s campus in 2017, is open to any NSU undergraduate or graduate student interested in learning more about public relations as a career.
“I am excited about our growing chapter and the professional development opportunities we have lined up this semester,” said Whitney Lehmann, Ph.D., faculty adviser for NSU PRSSA. “Our members are passionate about PR and future careers in the field.”
