DHPS faculty host law school workshop
Legal Studies program alumni offered tips
On September 12 and 19, Professors Tim Dixon and Gary Gershman of the Legal Studies program in the Department of History and Political Science hosted a free workshop series on "Applying to Law School" for interested students.
Professors Dixon and Gershman, both JDs, were joined as presenters by several NSU legal studies alumni, some of whom have completed law school and are now practicing law and some of whom are currently in law school. Students learned about the law school application process and were given tips on how they should prepare for the LSAT. Other topics covered in the workshops included choosing the right law school, preparing personal statements, and securing letters of reference for application. Close to thirty students attended over the two workshops.
Meanwhile, Phi Alpha Delta, the Pre-Law Honors Fraternity in CAHSS, hosted two informational meetings on September 12 for new and returning students. A total of forty-one students attended and signed up for membership. Any student who was unable to make these events but who is interested in getting help in applying to law school should contact Professor Gary Gershman at firstname.lastname@example.org. Students interested in Phi Alpha Delta should contact Professor Tim Dixon at email@example.com for more information.
