Professional Interests

Carmen M. Cusack, J.D., Ph.D. is the author of numerous books, including Pornography in the Criminal Justice System (CRC Press/ Taylor & Francis, 2014); Animals and Criminal Justice (Transaction Publishers, 2015); Criminal Justice Handbook on Masculinity, Male Aggression, and Sexuality (Charles C Thomas, 2015); and Laws Relating to Sex, Pregnancy, and Infancy: Issues in Criminal Justice (Palgrave Macmillan, 2015). She is the editor of Journal of Law and Social Deviance and serves as an editorial board member for Journal of Men’s Studies and The Qualitative Report.

Dr. Cusack has taught courses in law, criminal justice, sociology, and human services at universities throughout Florida and Alaska. She teaches Theory of Child Protection, Investigation, and Advocacy and Animals in Criminal Justice at Nova Southeastern University; she has worked in areas of law dealing with these populations. She has provided numerous interviews to national and international media outlets on topics related to her work. Generally, her research examines interpersonal, social, legal, and political issues affecting vulnerable, minority, and hegemonic populations.
