Dr. Yair Levy is a Professor of Information Systems and Cybersecurity at the Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences, at Nova Southeastern University and the director of the Center for e-Learning Security Research (CeLSR). He joined the school as an Assistant Professor in 2003, was promoted to an Associate Professor in 2007, and was promoted again to full Professor in 2012. Prior to joining the school, Dr. Levy was an instructor at the department of Decision Science and Information Systems (DSIS) and the director of Online Learning at the College of Business Administration, Florida International University. During the mid to late 1990s, Dr. Levy assisted NASA to develop e-learning platforms as well as manage Internet and Web infrastructures. He earned his undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology).
He received his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with Management Information Systems (MIS) concentration and Ph.D. in MIS from
Florida International University. His current research interests include cybersecurity, user-authentication issues, and e-learning system security. Dr. Levy is the author of Assessing the Value of e-Learning Systems (2006). His research publications appear in the Journal of Organizational and End User Computing (JOEUC), Journal of Cases on Information Technology (JCIT), International Journal of Information Systems in the Service Sector (IJISSS), Journal of Information Systems Education (JISE), Informing Science Journal (ISJ), Campus-Wide Information Systems (CWIS), The Internet and Higher Education (IHE), journal of Computers & Education, the International Journal of Information and Communications Technology Education (IJICTE), Journal of Internet Banking and Commerce (JIBC), as well as in several refereed conference proceedings. Additionally, he published invited book chapters in the Distance Learning and University Effectiveness book, the Encyclopedia of Information Science and Technology, as well as in the Encyclopedia of Online Learning and Technology. Dr. Levy is the recipient of the IJICTE 1(3) Editor's Award of Excellence for his paper titled “A case study of management skills comparison in online and on-campus MBA programs”, the recipient of the Best Paper Award in InSITE 2006 conference, the Best Paper Award in InSITE 2008 conference, as well as the Best Paper Award in the Chais 2009 and 2012 conferences. He served as the executive chair of the technical program and proceedings committee for the IEEE SoutheastCon 2005 conference as well as a co-chair of the information systems track in the same conference. Dr. Levy was the editor of the Proceedings for the IEEE SoutheastCon 2005. He was the co-chair of the Workshop of Information Security and Privacy (WISP) 2012 - at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS).
Additionally, Dr. Levy chaired and co-chaired multiple sessions/tracks of his research area in recognized scientific conferences. Between 2006 and 2011, Dr. Levy was serving as the founding Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the International Journal of Doctoral Studies (IJDS). He is serving as an associate editor for the Information Security Education Journal (ISEJ), Journal of Information, Information Technology, and Organizations (JIITO), and the Journal of Computer Information Systems (JCIS). Moreover, he is serving as a member of editorial review and advisory board of several referee journals such as the Journal of Cases on Information Technology (JCIT). Dr. Levy is serving as an ad-hoc reviewer for the premiere journals of Computers & Security (CoSe), Information Management and Computer Security (IMCS), International Journal of Information Systems in the Service Sector (IJISSS), Sage Open, Computer & Education, and Journal of Organizational and End User Computing (JOEUC). He's been serving as an advisory board member for the Online Journal of Applied Knowledge Management (OJAKM) and a founding member of the International Institute for Applied Knowledge Management (IIAKM), from which he was recognized as a 'Fellow and Distinguished Scholar' in 2013, as well as the Recipient of 'Lifetime Academic Achievement Award' from IIAKM in 2014. Also, Dr. Levy has been serving as a member of conference proceedings committee for numerous scholarly conferences. Moreover, Dr. Levy has been serving as a referee research reviewer for hundreds of national and international scientific journals, conference proceedings, as well as IS and information security textbooks. He is also a frequent invited keynote speaker at national and international meetings on IS, information security, and online learning topics. Dr. Levy’s teaching interests and courses taught in the masters level include information systems security, management information systems, e-commerce, system analysis and design, Web development, telecommunications and networking, as well as enterprise architecture and infrastructure. His teaching interests and courses taught in the doctoral level include Information Systems Development (ISD), Advanced Multivariate Research Methods and Statistics, as well as Information Security Risk Management.
