Professional Interests

Kevin Dvorak, Ph.D., is a Professor and Writing Center/Writing Across the Curriculum Coordinator in the Department of Writing and Communication. He is the President of the International Writing Centers Association and a past president of the Southeastern Writing Center Association. He has co-chaired two IWCA Summer Institutes (2013, 2014), two SWCA Conference (2010, 2013), and one National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing (2011).

His book, Creative Approaches to Writing Center Work (Hampton, 2008), won the 2009 IWCA Outstanding Scholarship Award for Best Book/Major Work. He has also published articles in ESL Writers: A Guide for Writing Center Tutors (2004 and 2009), The Writing Center Director’s Resource Manual (2005), and The Successful High School Writing Center (2011), as well as in Praxis and The Writing Center Journal. He is currently working on a collection, Writing Centers: Reference Guide to Rhetoric and Composition, for Parlor Press/WAC Clearinghouse. Dr. Dvorak earned the 2014 SWCA Achievement Award and the 2014 NSU STUEY Award for Professor of the Year.
