Professional Interests

Adela Beckerman, Ph.D., served as a professor at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens, Florida until 2013. Previously she was a Program Professor at Nova Southeastern University from 1992-2003. Prior to that, she was on the faculty of Florida International University, the University of Vermont, and Clinton Community College in upstate New York. She has taught in numerous locations across the U.S. and in Jamaica, and has taught in varied settings including military bases and correctional facilities. Dr. Beckerman is currently Research Director with Florida Education and Research Laboratory (FERL), a consulting firm, and has conducted research and evaluation projects concerning correctional policies, drug courts, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, child welfare, and school choice.
