Message from the Chair

I am delighted to welcome you to the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (DMS) in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. I appreciate your interest in our department and I invite you to explore our exciting programs!

As the department name implies, we offer a diverse selection of degree programs on the graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as graduate certificates. For those interested in a graduate degree program, we offer an M.A. in Cross-disciplinary Studies known as MACS. MACS provides core courses designed to focus on theory, research, critical thinking, and writing and then the opportunity to take classes in a variety of disciplines. We also offer an M.S. in College Student Affairs. This program is the most unique CSA program you will find as it combines both courses in student affairs as well as courses in conflict management and resolution.

We offer graduate certificates in College Student Personnel Administration and in Qualitative Research. The graduate certificate in College Student Personnel Administration is designed for those with a master’s degree already or those exploring the field. The graduate certificate in Qualitative Research is designed to enhance your knowledge and skills in this exciting and innovative research field. You may take it in addition to a degree program, as a part of MACS, or as a post-graduate program.

We also offer two undergraduate degree programs, the B.S. in Applied Professional Studies and the B.S. in General Studies. Both programs provide the opportunity to engage in multidisciplinary study through electives and concentrations. Read more about our programs in the menu on the left.
Our students have the opportunity to engage in real world experience in the field through practicums and internships. In addition they have the chance to participate in the many activities offered by NSU on campus and in the community.

I invite you to explore our programs. I would welcome the opportunity to share more information with you and to answer your questions.
