B.A. in International Studies

A fascination with world cultures. The lure of study abroad. Recognition of an increasingly global economy. These characteristics indicate that an international studies degree may be the key to unlocking your potential.

What you'll study
The world outside the United States is an endlessly colorful array of complicated issues, deep history, and profound art that opens your eyes to new possibilities. For your major in international studies, choose a foreign language and a region of the world to explore in depth. Research legal systems, literature, folklore, art, and cultural traditions that contrast with and illuminate the U.S. experience.

How you'll learn more
Study abroad brings your interdisciplinary courses to life. Your professors lead Travel Study courses held around the world, providing guided, educational, and inspiring experiences. Our diverse student body, cultural and political student organizations, visiting international guests, and community outreach bring a global society into your college experience.

Where it can take you
Graduates with an international perspective on business, law, and culture can create their own future in the global marketplace. Become a human rights advocate, foreign service officer, trade specialist, diplomat, cultural arts manager, international security expert, or philanthropist. With your international studies degree, the world is yours.

Pursuing a minor can deepen your knowledge in a discipline related to your major or enable you to explore a field outside your major area of study and diversify your skills. Speak with a faculty member in your program to determine which minor(s) can support your academic, professional, and personal goals.

Are you planning to pursue a master's or doctoral degree in a related field of study? Consider NSU's Dual Admission Program, which enables qualified undergraduates at the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences to secure early acceptance into one of the university's competitive graduate and professional degree programs.
