Message from the Chair

Greetings from the Department of Conflict Resolution Studies (DCRS) in NSU's College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences! DCRS is committed to academic excellence, cultural diversity, social responsibility, and reflective practice in the fields of sociology and conflict resolution. Through both undergraduate and graduate programs, we focus on the study of human behavior in societies, and methods whereby parties achieve constructive agreements based on the principles of nonviolence, equity, dignity, and appreciation for human diversity.

Use the menu to the left to access more information on our Sociology program, our Master’s in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, our Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, as well as our Graduate Certificates in Advanced Conflict Resolution Practice and in Peace Studies.

As you review the information on our website, you will see shining through the work of students, faculty, and alumni alike our shared commitment as a department to the “scholarship of engagement,” working with community and organizational partners in the application of theory, research, and practice to address social problems.

We often say that our students, who come from around the world and who participate in courses both at the main campus in Florida and online, are our greatest asset. I look forward to meeting you and learning about your successes in the classroom and beyond.
